While we admire the iconic poses of Guruji B.K.S. Iyengar in LIGHT ON YOGA, in 21st Century America, the yoga images surrounding us overwhelmingly depict white people, and many yoga classes, even in a city like Detroit, do not reflect its local population. Let us uplift the inherent perfection of our own yellow, brown, and black bodies and throw off cultural and internalized critiques, while embracing the challenge of Iyengar Yoga. This workshop will include poetry, writing, discussion, and asana. Together we will create a safer space to affirm, nurture, and inspire each other to keep growing. This will be a multi-level class. Beginners and those new to Iyengar Yoga are welcome
