We encourage highly motivated BIPOC students with less than 1 year of recent and continuous Iyengar Yoga study to apply to our apprenticeship program as a PRE-APPRENTICE.
BIPOC Pre-Apprentices will:
Receive a 50% tuition discount ($65/12 classes)
Receive a 100% scholarship to workshops and ASP weekends
Attend 2 classes/week
Attendance requirement: 85% (20/24 classes, plus attendance at workshops and ASP)
All IYDC classes are open to Pre-Apprentices, but they must come to at least one of Gwi-Seok’s Intermediate classes (Sunday 11am or Wednesday 5:30pm)
Maintain a Home Practice Log
Complete a self-assessment every 3 months, which includes discussion and reflections on the Home Practice Log with a mentor
After 3 months of meeting these requirements, BIPOC Pre-Apprentices will either:
Become a Paid Apprentice, if 1 year of continuous study has been met
OR
Continue as a Pre-Apprentice with 100% tuition discount for all classes, workshops, and ASP
When 1 year of continuous study, plus all other requirements are completed (85% attendance, Home Practice Log, self-assessments), Pre-Apprentices may apply for Paid Apprenticeship.
This extra time as a Pre-Apprentice will allow students to deepen their relationship with Iyengar Yoga, establish a home practice, make time and space for Iyengar Yoga in their lives, begin accumulating books and other resources, ask lots of questions, and help determine if this program is a mutual fit.
Timelines for progress will be individually determined with support from IYDC mentors.
